5th International Festival of Language, Culture, and Science
The Dean of Students Office at Tishk International University (TIU) organized the 5th International Festival of Language, Culture, and Science at the TIU campus under the theme of “Green Energy and Minimum Waste” with the participation of general consulates, politicians, parents, students, staff, and guests, held on Tuesday, May 17th, 2022.
The festival aimed to raise support for renewable energy to solve the region’s energy and environmental crises and increase awareness of minimum waste. The festival also focused on promoting the message of peace and coexistence among countries and nations.
The festival started at 10:00 AM with the national anthem, followed by a speech delivered by Dr Abdul Samad Salahuddin Ahmad, President of TIU. He emphasised the importance of such social and cultural activities. Dr Idris Hadi Salih, Head of the Board of Trustees, also gave a welcoming speech and discussed the festival’s objectives. Following this, Dr Abdulrahman Sadiq, Head of Environment and Consumer Rights Committee at KRG Parliament, talked about green energy and minimizing waste to help preserve the environment. TIU music clubs then performed an outstanding live performance to entertain the attendees.
The festival comprised 28 tents. Dentistry Faculty students and staff managed three tents, one scientific and two cultural (Iran and Emirates) tents. A delegation from the Iranian Council visited the tent representing Iran at the festival. By the end of the festival, the Dentistry Faculty won the Second Place in Cultural Tents and the Third Place in Scientific Tents.
The Dentistry Faculty tents were supervised by Dr Zeyneb Yalman, Dr Safiya Basman, Dr Sura Saleem, Dr Raghad alsawwaf, Dr Huda Shamil, Dr Noor Ali, and Mr Yusuf Siddik.
TIU has always strived toward peace and coexistence and has worked to gather different cultures and languages. This festival aimed to celebrate diversity, promote inclusion and set a ground for students, alumni, parents, staff, and officials to get together and enjoy the beauty of culture and language.
