A Short Film Project was successfully completed by 3rd stage students of the Faculty of Dentistry at Tishk International University, with the assistance of the Dean of Students Committee and Faculty of Dentistry facilities. The project consisted of producing a short film titled Anesthesia, which focuses on the difficulties dental students face during their dental school practice and how to overcome them. The film also highlights the impact of society on the choice of their future careers.
A second film, titled My Journey in Twelfth Grade, aimed at motivating high school students to try hard to achieve their dreams and goals in life. The project was supervised by Dr. Safiya Bassman and Dr Zeyneb Yalman, Director of Social Affairs and Guidance.
The film, Anesthesia, was written, directed and produced by Yousif Beshar, 3rd stage student in the Faculty of Dentistry, and acted and filmed by his 3rd stage colleagues with great precision and creativity. Mustafa Omar, 3rd stage student, was the main character in the film and assisted in all the steps of making the film. The Faculty of Dentistry helped provide the required facilities and partial finance for the project. The project production started at the beginning of July 2022 and took five months to complete.
To advertise this project, third-stage students visited two high schools in Erbil, Hawler High School, on November 29th, 2022, and Ishik Private High School, on December 1st, 2022. On each visit, students presented their short films and discussed the contents of the films with the students, and explained how they directed and produced the film. They also delivered a motivational and educational talk to the students regarding their future goal achievement and time management required in twelfth grade for reaching those goals. The high school students were thrilled and expressed gratitude towards the dental students and were motivated by the content.
On December 15th, 2022, a celebration ceremony was arranged by the Dean of Students Committee staff to celebrate this achievement. Many were invited to attend the ceremony, including staff and students. Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdul SamadSalahuddin Ahmad, President of Tishk International University, threw a speech and congratulated the students for their unique achievement together with Dr. Muhammad Abdulghani, Dean of Students, who delivered a second speech and congratulated the students on this significant achievement. The ceremony included sweets, pastries and beverages for celebration, and all enjoyed a beautiful time together. The participants of this event (21 participants) were all awarded appreciation certificates.
We hereby congratulate all the third-stage students who participated in this project, wish them a bright future with more and more achievements, and hope they continue encouraging other students towards similar achievements.
