On November 9th, 2022, the Faculty of Dentistry at Tishk International University participated in the Community Service & Clubs Introduction Day held in front of the Main building at the university. The event was organised by the Dean of Students Office Dr. SafiyaBasman, Dr. Sara Sherzad, Ms Sara Salim and supervised by the Director of Social Affairs and Guidance, Dr. Zaynab Yalman.
The event included an introduction of each department to its social activities conducted throughout the year and the different club activities held at the university. Clubs and social activities providing social responsibility, environmental sensitivity and personal development offer the opportunity to reinforce education.
The social activities are related to each department’s duty and responsibility towards society. The Faculty of Dentistry stand was prepared with photographs explaining each activity held by the faculty. The total number of beneficiaries from the activities that were implemented and completed reaches approximately 700 people, including the dental awareness projects in schools, malls, the orphanage, provision of stationary in the back-to-school project and a special activity concerning the education and well-being of dental students. The remaining social activities are ongoing till the end of the academic year.
The importance of participating in social activities is always highlighted at our university. Faculty of Dentistry students are responsible for being productive students besides studying dentistry and are introduced to the different types of social activities held in the university and various club activities. TIU staff are also responsible for organising and supervising these activities and urging student participation throughout the year.
A university is always stated for an intense academic life. However, as a private university, we must ensure student satisfaction. In the 21st century, an educational institution without social life cannot open new horizons for its members. Social activities are highly appreciated by foreign and domestic visitors, hence play an important role at Tishk International University.
