The Dean of Students in the Faculty of Dentistry at Tishk International University launched a table tennis tournament for faculty students on December 7th, 2022. The activity was supervised and arranged by Mr. Yusuf Sidiq, Representative of the Dean of Students at the Faculty of Dentistry.
Table Tennis is a sport where two or four players hit a lightweight ball back and forth using table tennis rackets. The game is played on a hard table divided by a net. Points are scored when a player fails to return the ball within the rules. Play is fast and demands quick reactions.
Our tournament was performed as a knock-out system; a single-elimination match is a form of an elimination contest where the loser of each game is immediately eliminated from winning the championship. The tournament lasted for 13 days, during which 22 players participated. The final match was held on December 20th, 2022, with the contribution of both students and lecturers.
Dumara Kawther, a second-grade student in the Faculty of Dentistry, won the final match, and fourth-grade student Rebin Ahmed won second place. Dr. Duran Kala, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, awarded both contestants and appreciated their outstanding performance and participation.
