Science of behavior
This course is designed to explain the basic principles of healthy human behavior and teach their etiology. Students will be taught how to responsible for their integrate work. Understanding social behavior individual in society, social perception.
Introduction to Computer Science: This course is designed to make the student familiar with Computer literature. Information Technology Concepts are introduced with an emphasis on software and hardware utilization.
Academic Debate & Critical Thinking: The topics of this course will train the students on using sources for academic communication, putting knowledge into good use, and raising academic questions and answering questions in an academic way. The course also aims to teach students how to accept and respect differing opinions, and how to conduct academic arguments.
Advanced English:this course is concerned with improving and enhancing learners’ abilities in English as a foreign language (EFL).
Dental Anatomy: The course closely describes the foundation of dentistry. During the course the student will be taught how to make carving for crown and root. This makes the student closely related to whole anatomy of tooth, numeration and classification also included.
Organic Chemistry: This course covers the structure, properties, and reactions of organic compounds and organic materials. Study of structure by using physical and chemical methods to determine the chemical composition and constitution of organic compounds and materials.
Medical Biology & Genetics: this course is designed to teach the students how all living organisms interact with each other and their environment. The students will also learn how scientists work, the scientific method, so that they could look at a problem objectively, and make intelligent decisions concerning biological issues.
Dental Materials: This course covers the classification of dental materials, uses, advantages, disadvantages, indications, contra-indications and composition.
Anatomy: This course deals with most important human body systems & organs, the lecturers explain these organs anatomically to the students & the link between this course & their practice in dentistry in the future.
Kurdology: General introduction, this course is about Kurds and their country (Kurdistan), history, kurdish society, language, folklore and literature.
Medical English: this course d introduce to students to language of medicine. Students will gain an understanding of basic elements, rules of building and analyzing medical words, and medical terms associated with the body as a whole.
Biophysics: This course introduces the use of physical methods in the study of biological systems, including macromolecules, membranes, nerves, muscle, photosynthetic systems and visual systems.
Second Year
Head & Neck Anatomy: This course deals with head & neck regions, the lecturers explain these regions anatomically to the students & the link between this course & their practice in dentistry in the future.
Biochemistry & Oral Biochemistry: in this course the Students will study carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, enzyme actions and metabolism of macromolecules in body. Students will also study chemistry of saliva and chemical composition of tooth.
Conservative: This course is designed to introduce the second year dental students to conservative Dentistry as a health care science. The student will study the elementary concepts of tooth structure, dental caries, and pathological loss of tooth structure due to dental caries.
Physiology & Oral Physiology: In this course we cover the physiology of most organs of human body including oral physiology and in laboratory, we practice how systems of the normally acting to be a good basic for dentist in future to deal with pathological conditions.
Histology and Embryology: Histology and Embryology course will give you an understanding of the structure and function of the cell and extra cellular matrix as basic building blocks of tissues and organs. Lecture will focus on relating cell, tissue, and organ structure to their specific functions while laboratory will emphasize microscopic recognition of tissues and organs.
Oral Histology & Embryology: Oral Histology will give you an understanding of the structure and function of the cell and extra cellular matrix as basic building blocks of teeth and oral mucosa. Specialization of cells and their interactions in forming tissues will be presented as well as how cells and tissues are structurally and functionally linked in oral cavity
Microbiology & Parasitology & Oral Microbiology: In this course the students will have the basic information about common genes of bacteria which cause common oral infections, and how to recognize it in the laboratory. At the end of the course the students will know all the instruments and the methods that were used for sterilization.
Pharmacology:This course introduces to the basis of general pharmacology. The student will learn the various body systems and drugs used to affect them in health and disease. Moreover, the course will cover the drugs used to treat microbial infections. This course briefly reviews the pharmacotherapy of various diseases with primary focus on applying therapeutic knowledge to care for patients with such diseases.
Prosthodontics: this courseteach the students the basic princples of replacing of missing teeth either by fixed or removable type of prosthesis and giving information about the clinical guidelines during the clinical practice and the laboratory procedures.
Third Year
Dental Anesthesia: This course covers the basic principles of local dental anesthesia, types and indications of each anesthetic agent and complications that might happen during after local anesthetic administration.
Conservative: This course is designed to teach the student the basic principles and techniques used to restore tooth structure damaged by caries, fracture or trauma, with direct and indirect restorative materials.. This course is also aimed to teach the student the materials to enable them to understand and continue to learn dental biomaterials. Also, to develop an appropriate understanding of the criteria for the selection of materials for specific dental procedures.
Oral Diagnosis & Radiology: Theory, techniques and procedures for exposing and processing dental radiographs; interpretation of dental radiographs, radiation safety, and practical application in dental radiography lab and clinical setting.
Orthodontics:
This course is designed to teach the students normalgrowth and development of dento-facial complex, Development of a malocclusion, Diagnosis and treatment planning in orthodontics, Removable and orthopaedic appliances fabrication in lab
Pathology: In this course the students will gain relevant information about the basic concept of general pathology. This course deals with the investigation of those pathological mechanisms common to all tissue-cell pathology.
Periodontology, Dental Ethics & Health Care: The course describes the periodontal anatomy, function and disease
Prosthodontics: This course enables the student to draw the design on the cast and how she/he can refer her cast to dental technician
General Medicine: In this course we try to enable students to recognize common and important medical condition and how to deal with medical compromised patient and how to prevent its complications.
Pedodontics:. This course teach the students different aspects such as prevention of oral diseases in children, caries risk assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning, different types of fillings and pulp treatment of primary and young permanent dentition.
Endodontics: To provide students with the basic knowledge in endodontics. Students will be taught the basic information on pulp tissue development, function and how to be treated in order to keep the function as long as possible. Anatomy of tooth structure, component and method of treatment. Step wise root canal treatment is performed.
Oral Pharmacology: The aim of this lecture is to train students how to prescribe medications according to the patient acceptability and how to prescribe medications in case of several mouth diseases. In addition students will be able to understand the drug interactions and relations between dental diseases with medications that they should prescribe for the patient.
General Anesthesia and surgery: this course covers The basic surgical foundations like the aforementioned hectic topics of infection, hemorrhage, tumor and etc. These essential topics play a pivotal role in the built- in the structure of any evolving student since the basic surgery and medicine can increase dramatically the capacity of the students to understand the other topics related to these fields
Fourth Year
Oral Disease Surgery: Understanding the instruments used in dental surgery generally and instruments used for tooth extraction specially and how make reception of patient and taking history from the patient ,examination of the patient.
The Management of Medically Compromised Patients: This course mainly focuses on the medical diseases that are associated with dental management. It emphasizes on signs and symptoms, diagnosis and dental treatment planning of medically compromised patients. Moreover, it covers the oral manifestations of systemic diseases and effects of which on the proposed treatment planning.
Oral disease and Surgery Clinic: The course aims to produce a graduate who is competent in performing extraction of teeth under local anesthesia, prevent and manage related complications, acquire knowledge regarding aseptic procedures, have reasonable understanding of management of infectious patients and prevention of cross infections, as well as acquire reasonable knowledge regarding the surgical principals involved in implant placement and be able to communicate properly and understand medico legal responsibilities
Conservative: Continuation of the operative clinical program with increasing competency; performance with decreasing supervision, assuming more independence in patient management; independent clinical judgment is encouraged and evaluated more stringently.

Oral Diagnosis and Radiology: The goal is to provide a basic and advanced education in Oral Medicine and radiology for an improved understanding of all dental and maxillofacial diseases and increased skills in its management. To make the dental student able to decide the appropriate imaging for each pathology and reach the final diagnosis.
Diagnosis and Radiology Clinic: This course is designed to provide basic knowledge in oral and maxillofacial radiology.. It covers principles of radiographic interpretation by starting with recognition of normal anatomic presentation.
Orthodontic: The courses can be explained how you can using of orthodontic diagnosis material and treatment planning, sing of cephalometry in treatment planning, growth stages and orthodontic interventions, early treatment of cleft palate patients, interceptive orthodontic approaches, preventive orthodontic approaches, etiology of oral habits and treatments, orthodontic tooth movement and forces, corrective orthodontic approaches, fixed and functional treatments, tme structures and relationships with orthodontics, adult orthodontics, importance of retention phase, cast analyses, appliance application in a case
Orthodontic Clinic: This course will provide the students with an understanding of the need and demand of orthodontic treatment, the current etiology of malocclusion, approaches to classify malocclusions and be aware of commonly used classifications. It will also make the students to be familiar and able to design the removable appliance components and use them clinically for treating different types of malocclusion.
Pedodontics: Intend to inform and provide the students with the principle knowledge in children dentistry which will discussed to the level of the student. In addition, the student will be able to explore and analyze the existing theories and developing concepts in pediatric dentistry. The course covers different aspects such as prevention of oral diseases in children, caries risk assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning, different types of fillings and pulp treatment of primary and young permanent dentition.
Pedodontics Clinic: The clinic of pedo include all the dental management of children up to 13 years old, starting from diagnosis, behavior management, preventive program, caries management, extraction and space maintainer.
Periodontology: Periodontology is intended to provide a sound and intensive knowledge of the basic principles of the etiology, progression and pathology of periodontal tissues as well as the diagnosis and management of advanced periodontal diseases. Initial therapy, and nonsurgical procedures and management should be mastered.The Department aims at teaching our students to provide the highest level of nonsurgical periodontal treatment care using latest approach in a teaching academic setting
Periodontology Clinic: Clinical practice is devoted to the treatment of patients with uncomplicated inflammatory periodontal diseases under close supervision in a comprehensive care clinic. Small group diagnosis and treatment planning seminars are held for informal discussion of periodontics, and individual student initiative is encouraged. Students chart, diagnose, prepare case analyses, and present cases to patients and faculty. This course serves as a basis for the student to be able to diagnose and treat more advanced cases in their fifth year.
Prosthodontics: This course forces on strategies of replacing missing teeth by either fixed or removable partial prosthesis, students will study how to make a treatment plane and how go through each steps of making a suitable prostheses.
Prosthodontics Clinic: The students make 1 complete denture (upper & lower) preparing 5 single crowns of badily broken teeth, fracture teeth & endodontically broken teeth. The students make preparation on manekan of crowns on 16 plastic teeth (upper & lower), (anterior & posterior). The students prepare seminars on complete denures & crown
Endodontics: To provide Dental students to apply what they have had in the 3rd grade theoretically and clinically on their patients under the well qualified lecturer and supervisor dentists.
Endodontic Clinic: Students integrate knowledge and techniques previously learned into the clinical practice of endodontics. Students continue providing endodontic treatment on teeth which have been assigned a level of minimal difficulty
Oral Pathology I: This course teaches the students how to differentiate the types of pathological diseases that are involved in the oral cavity and manifestation of common diseases, their diagnosis & correlation with clinical pathological processes.
Fifth Year

Firs Aid and Emergency Treatment: In this course we describe most common conditions & serious injuries which may need first aid and medical emergencies that need immediate intervention from medical person and how to give proper help to save lines
Maxillofacial Surgery: Descripting the surgical management of the main oral and maxillofacial diseases.
*Please note that critical thinking and academic debate must involve 30% of each topic
Orofacial Medicine: Descripting the medical management of the main orofacial diseases.
Case studies demonstrating oral medicine conditions is one of the methods used to promote self-directed and active learning with class / group discussion and debate. Assignments and seminars have been included with the purpose of encouraging the students to consult other reference forms like on-line information.

Community & Prevention: Preventive dentistry is the area of dentistry that focuses on those procedures and life practices that help people to prevent the beginning or progression of oral disease. It includes at-home dental care performed by patients, as well as dental care and education by professional dental staff in the office or clinic. The goal of this course is to introduce the student to the fundamentals of preventive dentistry
Orthodontic clinic: Clinical correction of patients malocclusion with removable orthodontic appliances, myofunctional.

Periodontology Clinic:
In the Fifth year, instruction in periodontics continues with the student acting more independently within the framework of the comprehensive care program. With the exception of only the most advanced cases, students perform initial therapy on all periodontal patients. For those patients requiring surgical therapy, students assist faculty members during surgical procedures indicated for their patients. Students are evaluated on a daily basis and during periodic competency exercises that are administered by the faculty
Endodontics Clinic: The course aims to provide the dental students with academic knowledge and clinical skills to enable them to develop their skills in diagnosing endodontic problems and to provide appropriate treatment for endodontic patients. During the course, students have been asked to demonstrate a range of clinical and technical skills relating to multidisciplinary patient treatment care also special treatment needs for medically compromised patients.
Prosthodontics Clinic:The course of 5th grade do 1 Cr-Co, 2 acrylic RPD, 1 Crown& 2 Bridges. The practical steps of Cr- Co from diagnosis ,treatment planning, prepations of abutments teeth,metal check & insertion. The practical steps of bridge from diagnosis ,treatment planning, prepations of abutments teeth,metal check & insertion.
Diagnosis and Radiology Clinic: The goal is to provide an advanced education in Oral Medicine and radiology for an improved understanding of all dental and maxillofacial diseases and increased skills in its management. To transform the nature of dental education and practice in ways that will dramatically improve the way we serve our students, our patients and surrounding community.
Seminars & Student`s Research: This course covers the basic principles of research that undergraduate students need to know to conduct an undergraduate level research. Types and methods of medical research are discussed in detail, parts and designs of thesis are also covered along with detailed tutorials about academic writing. Moreover, principles of designing a research methodology and data collection are also discussed
Biostatistics: Probability: Experiments, events, and sample spaces. Definitions of probability, Law of large numbers, marginal and conditional probabilities, Bayes’ Theorem, Chebyshev’s theorem, Discrete Random variables, Binomial, Poisson and Hypergeometric random variables, Continuous Random Variables, density functions, Uniform, Normal and Exponential Distributions. Binomial approximation to Normal.
Turkish: The place of Turkish language among other world languages and their classification. In this course students will study the grammar , pronunciation, writing.
Dental Implantology: This course is designed to give an introduction and study the clinical principles of dental implantology. It offers students the opportunity to explore and analyze existing and developing theories and concepts underpinning the field of implantology. The course covers the biological, mechanical, surgical, periodontal and prosthetic aspects of dental implantology. It also focuses on case selection and treatment planning. In addition, complications of dental implantology and management of medically compromised patients seeking dental implants are also discussed.
