On December 22nd, 2024, the Dean of Students’ Office at Tishk International University (TIU) organized a comprehensive orientation program to warmly welcome its newly admitted first-grade students. The event aimed to familiarize students with the university’s academic structure, essential rules, and available facilities, thereby ensuring a smooth transition into their educational journey.
The program commenced with inspiring speeches from the university’s leadership, including Dr. Sultan Al-Oraibi, President of Tishk International University; Dr. Omar Naqhshbandi, Dean of the Faculty; and Dr. Alisher Babakuliyev, Head of Department. The speakers emphasized the university’s mission, academic expectations, and the paramount importance of discipline and motivation for achieving success. A dedicated session was held to explain laboratory rules and requirements, with experienced staff members providing detailed guidance. Miss Zainab Hasan, a Lecturer in the Faculty, delivered a presentation on the Dean of Students’ Office and its diverse activities.
A significant highlight of the event was the comprehensive introduction of the Student Information System (SIS), a vital platform for managing academic records and accessing university resources. The attendees were thoughtfully divided into two groups, and in two detailed sessions, Mr. Yusuf Sidiq and Dr. Safiya Bassman, both Dean of Students’ Representatives, meticulously explained the system’s functionalities. The topics covered included access to lecture notes, disciplinary rules, attendance policies, examination procedures, and mark distribution. To ensure maximum comprehension, the sessions were conducted in English, Kurdish, and Arabic.
The three-hour program concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, where students’ inquiries were addressed comprehensively. To commemorate this important occasion, branded medals shaped like a tooth were distributed as memorable gifts to all attendees. Students were also treated to cakes and juice, fostering a warm and welcoming environment.
