Erbil, Iraq – Tishk International University (TIU) proudly hosted the Seventh Scientific Conference of Oral Sciences (SCOS 2025) on January 27th, 2025, in Erbil. Organized by the Faculty of Dentistry Activity Committee, the prestigious event was held under the compelling theme, “From Evidence to Excellence,” marking a significant stride toward advancing research and healthcare practices in Iraq.
The conference was inaugurated in the esteemed presence of several distinguished guests, including Dr. Saman Barznji, Minister of Health of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG); Mr. Umed Khoshnaw, the Governor of Erbil; Dr. Dlovan Muhamad, Manager of the Erbil Health Directory; Asst. Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi, Head of the Board of Trustees at Tishk International University; Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu-Orabi, President of Tishk International University; and Dr. Jafar Naghshbandi, Conference Chair and Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry. Deans of other faculties, trustees, and numerous distinguished guests also attended.
The event attracted more than 600 participants from across Iraq, reflecting the growing interest and commitment to oral healthcare and research. The chosen theme, “From Evidence to Excellence,” underscored the critical importance of evidence-based practices in achieving both clinical and academic excellence within the field of oral sciences.
A significant highlight of the conference was the international panel discussion titled “A Global Vision on Dentistry.” This panel featured four renowned international speakers who shared their invaluable insights on global advancements in dentistry, discussed innovative practices, and explored effective strategies for enhancing collaboration across international borders. The panel provided a crucial platform for exchanging forward-thinking ideas and fostering dialogue on the future trajectory of oral healthcare worldwide.
In addition to the robust academic sessions, the program featured a vibrant exhibition supported by 18 leading companies, including prominent dental and healthcare industry leaders who generously sponsored the event. Their contributions showcased the latest innovations, products, and technologies, significantly enriching the conference experience for all attendees.
Participants were further engaged through two specialized scientific workshops, which demonstrated advanced techniques and provided practical learning opportunities. Adding to the excitement, an engaging lottery event delighted attendees with nearly 50 valuable gifts, creating an atmosphere of fun and anticipation.
SCOS 2025 served as a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange, collaborative efforts, and invaluable networking among researchers, practitioners, and industry experts, reinforcing the Faculty of Dentistry’s pivotal role in advancing oral sciences.
