On January 18th, 2023, the Faculty of Dentistry at Tishk International University organised a workshop titled Basic Life Support: A Life-Saving Skill for university staff. The workshop was presented by Dr. Shaween Ziyad Talabani, Ph.D. (UK), Cardiologist. The workshop’s objectives were to teach the participants the life-saving skills of a cardiac arrest patient, give high-quality chest compressions, and deliver appropriate ventilations.
The workshop was conducted in two sessions:
1- First Session: A theoretical background about emergency management and basic life support.
2- Second Session: Hands-on CPR and defibrillation.
Seventy-three participants attended the workshop that was sponsored by Snow Company.
The workshop enabled the participants to perform CPR in a scientific way, know the basic steps in rescuing cardiac arrest patients in casualty, and learn how to prevent fatal mistakes in emergency management.
