Christmas is an annual celebration of Jesus Christ’s birth, observed on December 25th as a religious festival by people who follow the Christian faith. Within this context, the Dean of Students at the Faculty of Dentistry, Tishk International University (TIU), hosted a small event to share this celebration with Christian students and staff on December 20th, 2023.
The event was organized by the Dean of Students Office at the Faculty of Dentistry. Members of the Dean of Students Committee and 17 faculty staff members also participated in the celebration, which included 25 Christian students from the Faculty of Dentistry.
The event opened with a speech from Dr. Jafer Naghshbandi, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, in which he discussed the unity of religions, the common points between all monotheistic religions, and how this unity and diversity among religions resemble the different colors of flowers. Dr. Muhammad Aziz, a senior staff member in the Faculty of Dentistry, talked about the birth of our Prophet Issa (a.s) and Maryam, using Quranic verses, and explained the relationship between Islam and Christianity and how closely their beliefs are linked. Afterwards, a short presentation was delivered by Dr. Monica, another senior staff member in the Faculty of Dentistry, who talked about living in peace with different religions and the oneness of believers. Lastly, Mr. Ercan Sezer, Executive Academic Advisor, gave a speech in which he emphasized the respect of our beloved prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) for Christians, and shared the story of King Najashi and his astonishment at the virtues of Prophet Muhammad’s followers. They further wished a Merry Christmas to all Christian staff and students.
To wrap up the event, all participants were invited to take a group photo and enjoy dessert and assorted drinks. This occasion was a tribute to the staff and students who celebrate Christmas and highlighted the brotherhood between religions and compatibility between people of different faiths. Small gifts were also distributed to the students on this occasion.
On behalf of Tishk International University, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We look forward to a new year of excellence, peace, and harmony.
