Christmas is an annual celebration of Jesus Christ’s birth, observed on December 25th as a religious festival amongst the people who follow the Christian faith and as a seasonal, cultural celebration mon billions of people around the world. Within this context, the Dean of Students at Tishk International University hosted a small event for students on December 14th, 2022.
The event was opened by a speech from Dr. Duran Kala, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, in which he discussed the unity of religions, the mutual points between all monotheist religions, and how religious and cultural beliefs can help humanity towards peace and evolution. Mr. Ercan Sezer, Executive Academic Advisor and Dr. Zeyneb Yalman, Director of Social Affairs and Guidance, also gave a speech in which they emphasised the virtues of Prophet Issa (P.B.U.H) and Maryam (P.B.U.H) and the oneness of our Lord. They further wished a merry Christmas to all Christian staff and students.
The event was organised by Dr. Safiya Bassman, a member of the Dean of Students Committee and supervised by Dr. Zeyneb Yalman, Representative of the Dean of Students Office at the Faculty of Dentistry. Members of the Dean of Students Committee and Faculty of Dentistry staff also participated in the celebration.
To wrap up the event, all participants were invited to take a group photo and enjoy dessert and assorted drinks. This occasion was a tribute to staff and students who celebrate Christmas and indicated the brotherhood between the religions and compatibility between people of different faiths. Small gifts were also distributed to the students on this occasion.
