Tishk International University (TIU) proudly announces the appointment of Dr. Jafar Naghshbandi as the new Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, effective immediately. Dr. Naghshbandi brings a wealth of experience and expertise in the field of dentistry, along with a stellar academic background.
With a distinguished career spanning over three decades, Dr. Naghshbandi has demonstrated leadership and commitment to dental education, research, and community service. Dr. Jafar Naghshbandi began his academic career in 1996 as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Stomatology, Advanced Education in Periodontics, University of Texas Health Science Center, Houston Dental School, beginning a distinguished career in academia and dentistry.
Dr. Jafar is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. Before entering dental school, his educational background included two Bachelor of Science degrees from Texas Christian University (T.C.U.) in Fort Worth, Texas. Dr. Jafar Naghshbandi earned his Doctorate in Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) in 1991, followed by a Master of Science (M.S) degree and a postdoctoral specialty in Periodontology from the University of Texas Health Science Center Houston Dental Branch (U.T.H.D.B.) in 1996. He furthered his education by completing a second postdoctoral specialty in Endodontics at the University of Southern California (U.S.C.)in 2003.
Throughout his career, Dr. Jafar Naghshbandi has held various academic appointments, including Assistant Professor in the Department of Stomatology and Advanced Education in Periodontics at U.T.H.D.B. (1996-2001) and Adjunct Faculty in Advanced Endodontics at U.S.C. School of Dentistry (2003-2014). He also served as a consultant in departments of periodontics and endodontics at King Abdulaziz Medical Center from 2013 to 2014. Dr. Jafar Naghshbandi has been an Assistant Professor and head of the periodontics department at Tishik International University Since 2015.
In addition to his academic roles, Dr. Jafar Naghshbandi has received awards and lectured on several periodontal, dental implantology, and endodontic-related topics in the United States and international meetings. He has published scientific articles in prestigious international dental journals with over one thousand citations, available on our university’s website.
