On January 27th, the Dean of Students’ Office at the Faculty of Dentistry, Tishk International University (TIU), organized a meaningful visit to Happy Nest Daycare, a facility dedicated to the care of orphaned children. The visit was part of a community outreach and awareness initiative aimed at promoting oral health among young children. This impactful project was generously sponsored by Dr. Wan Mand, a distinguished PhD holder and faculty member at the Faculty of Dentistry. Her support ensured the success of the initiative and reinforced the university’s commitment to serving the community through education and healthcare.
During the visit, 38 children underwent dental checkups conducted by four senior dentists from various departments of the faculty. Each child’s dental condition was documented through individualized case sheets, which were then sent to their parents, identifying specific concerns that may require further attention. In addition to the checkups, the senior dentists provided engaging oral health awareness sessions, educating the children on proper brushing techniques and the importance of maintaining good dental hygiene.
To make the experience engaging and enjoyable, a cartoon video demonstrating proper brushing techniques was screened, encouraging the children to develop healthy oral care habits. Furthermore, gifts were distributed, including coloring pens, pencils, notebooks, and toothbrushes specifically designed for male and female children aged 4 to 5 years.
The Faculty of Dentistry extends its heartfelt appreciation to the senior doctors who contributed their expertise and time to make this project a success. Their dedication to public health and community service reflects the university’s mission to foster academic excellence while making a positive social impact.
