The Dean of Students at the Faculty of Dentistry, Tishk International University (TIU) organized a table tennis tournament on May 6th 2024 for faculty students. The activity was supervised by Dr. Mustafa Mukhlis and Dr. Shad Hoshyar Research Assistants at the Faculty of Dentistry and Mr. Yusuf Siddiq, Representative of the Dean of Students at the Faculty of Dentistry.
Table Tennis is a sport in which two or four players hit a lightweight ball back and forth using table tennis rackets. The game is conducted on a hard table divided by a net. Points are scored when a player fails to return the ball within the rules. Play is fast and demands quick reactions. Our tournament was performed as a knock-out system; a single-elimination match is a form of an elimination contest where the loser of each game is immediately eliminated from winning the championship.
The tournament lasted for 15 days, during which 40 players participated. The final match was held on May 20th 2024 with the contribution of both students and lecturers.
The final match was won by Yad Amir, second-grade student in Faculty of Dentistry who was granted the 1st place, and the fifth-grade student Rebin Ahmed who was granted the second place.
Dr. Jafar Naghshbandi, Dean of Faculty of Dentistry, awarded both contestants and appreciated their wonderful performance and participation.
