Dental Implantology Workshop
The Faculty of Dentistry at Tishk International University organized a workshop for the academic staff and alumni of the faculty under the title of “Hands On Dental Implantology”. The workshop was held on November 11th, 2021, under the supervision and cooperation of Assistant Professor Dr. Jafar Naghshbandi, PhD, Head of Periodontology Department at Tishk International University, and Dr. Handreen Muhammad Ali, PhD, Hawler Medical University.
The purpose of the workshop was to allow participants to identify the indications and contraindications of dental implant, to understand how to perform dental implant surgery, how to obtain the desired result the after completing the procedure, and how to avoid complications related to dental implants.
Approximately 100 participants from staff, alumni and students of the Faculty of Dentistry-TIU participated in the workshop.
The workshop comprised of two sessions:
• First Session: Introducing and discussing the basis of Dental Implantology.
• Second Session: Hands-on training on Dental Implant.
The workshop simplified the principles of surgical bone preparation for putting a dental implant followed by the prosthetic part placement. Further, the indications, local and systemic contraindications of dental implant were discussed, along with tips and tricks to achieve successful results.
