The international Women’s Day was celebrated at Tishk International University, where Dr. Idris Hadi Head of Board of Trustees and President of TIU gave an opening speech about Women’s day and history of March 8, followed by a speech presented by Ms. Soma Abdulsalam KareemDirector of Gender Equity Center at Tishk International University.
March 8 is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, They day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender equality.
This event was celebrated by giving a flower from Dr. Idris Hadi to all female academic and administrative staff of TIU, as a symbol for supporting women on their special day. Further more Dr. Idris Hadi talked about the Gender Equity Center of Tishk International University that began on a day like this, 8th of March 2018 with a simple idea: help women and girls achieve equity. For the Center, equity with all of its complexity, cultural and global dimensions, is the transformative issue of our time. Solve this and the world will be a better place for all of us – men, women, children, young and old alike. The Gender Equity Center invites and welcomes all who would like to Stand Together.
