International Women’s Day
Across the world, International Women’s Day, which takes place on March 8th, is annually celebrated to pay tribute to women and acknowledge the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements they have accomplished. This day calls attention to the concerns and issues that women face globally. It also highlights the current status of women, the breakthrough in gender equality in employment, and how women are actively contributing to the development of our society.
On March 8th, 2022, the Dean of Students at the Faculty of Dentistry, Tishk International University celebrated International Women’s Day in the presence of Dr. Duran Kala, Dean of Faculty, Dr. Lezan Dawood, Polyclinic Director, and Mr. Erjan Sezer, Executive Academic Advisor.
The celebration was organized by Mrs. Dr. Safiya Basman, the representative of the Dean of Students Office at the Dentistry Faculty, and supervised by Dr. Zeyneb Yalman, Director of Social Affairs and Guidance.
The celebration commenced with a welcome speech delivered by Dr. Safiya Basman. Faculty Dean Dr. Duran Kala also delivered a speech in which he thanked all female staff for their hard work, followed by Dr. Zainab Yalman, who spoke about the role of women in the community.
This event marked the significance of gender equality and women empowerment in Kurdistan. The Faculty of Dentistry aims to continue assisting in the development of women’s achievements in the region and hopes to continue raising awareness on women’s empowerment and gender-based violence.
In celebration of International Women’s Day, red roses were gifted to all female staff of the Dentistry Faculty for their exceptional contribution to the prosperity and progression of the faculty.
