On March 7th 2024, the Dean of Students Committee at Tishk International University (TIU) arranged a ceremony for the staff members and nurses at the Faculty of Dentistry in celebration of International Women’s Day.

The ceremony commenced with a speech by Dr. Omar Jafar Naghshbandi, the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry. He spoke eloquently about the virtues of women, highlighting their roles as mothers and as pivotal builders of our world, and discussed the significant impact women have on the lives of successful men. He concluded his address by extending congratulations to the participants on the occasion of Women’s Day.

The event proceeded with a video prepared by two second-stage students from the Faculty of Dentistry. They interviewed the faculty’s female staff about their most significant achievements in life and sought the male staff’s perspectives on women. The video was both entertaining and informative, offering insights into the university staff’s lives.

Following the video, Dr. Sara Sherzad, a member of the Dean of Students Committee and a dental research assistant in the Faculty of Dentistry, presented a 20-minute seminar. The seminar explored the differences in thought processes between men and women, drawing on summaries of two books.

The ceremony’s final segment featured an open discussion session led by Dr. Monica Miasko. She showcased a brief excerpt from a movie based on a true story, sparking a conversation about women’s freedom of choice in society and globally. Dr. Miasko emphasized the crucial role of parents in expressing love to their daughters, underscoring the importance of forging strong bonds and open communication.

To celebrate the day, red roses, cake, and chocolates were distributed to all attendees at the ceremony’s conclusion. On International Women’s Day, Tishk International University seizes the opportunity to honour women and girls across the globe, celebrating their achievements to date.
