On January 25, 2026, the Faculty of Dentistry at Tishk International University (TIU) successfully organized a specialized academic international workshop entitled “Biomimetic Approach: introduction of adhesive protocol and fiber reinforcement” at the Dentistry Faculty, Hall 400. The workshop was conducted by two distinguished speakers: Dr. Ashley Chung from the United States and Dr. Abulla Majeed, a respected member of the TIU academic staff. The workshop introduced biomimetic principles that mimic natural tooth structures, like enamel prisms and dentin tubules, to guide adhesive bonding and reinforcement strategies, covered adhesive protocols including selective etching, universal adhesives, and layering techniques to achieve strong, gap-free dentin-enamel bonds without postoperative sensitivity, and demonstrated fiber reinforcement using ultra-fine glass or polyethylene fibers embedded in composites to restore tooth strength and fracture resistance. Participants achieved proficiency in adhesive protocols like immediate dentin sealing and selective etching for sensitivity-free, durable dentin-enamel bonds, gained hands-on skills in integrating glass or polyethylene fibers into composites to boost fracture resistance and restore biomechanics, and developed the ability to perform minimally invasive restorations, reducing tooth loss and improving clinical success rates over conventional methods.
