June 25, 2020 The representative of the Dean of students in Dentistry Faculty, TIU, Dr.Zainab Yalman arranged an honoring ceremony for the class advisors of the faculty, in the presence of Dr.Duran Kala, the Dean of dentistry faculty, Dr.Lezan Dawood, the polyclinics manager, Mrs. Emine Bala, the Dean of students, Mr.Fatih Yilmaz, the representative of the Dean of students, Mr.Ercan Sezer, the Head of the department and Dr.Alisher Babakuliyev, the vise dean. On June 22, 2020 an internal workshop was conducted by Dr.Ranj Nadhim Jalal (Ph.D., head of quality assurance and IRO representative) for the academic staff of Dentistry Faculty-TIU, focusing on the importance of course catalogues in the accreditation process of the faculty. The objectives were to familiarize the participants with the contents of the course catalogue and demonstrating a proper way to fill the course catalogue according to the innovative teaching method. June 23 to June 25 ,2020 Under the direct supervision of Dr.Duran Kala (PhD),the Dean of Dentistry Faculty-TIU and Dr.Ranj Nadhim (PhD),the instructor of Research Methodology,special committees inside the Dentistry Faculty were assigned to scientifically discuss and evaluate the graduation thesis that were submitted by the students as a partial requirement of Bachelor degree in Dental surgery. Each research group prepared a brief presentation about their project and they discussed the aims, materials, methods and results of their studies with the committee in addition to recommending further studies for the senior students that will follow them next year. As the Dentistry Department has started the procedure of international accreditation for its bachelor program, a self-report that gives an evidence of its compliance with the accreditation standards shall be prepared. Therefore, comprehensive data about the taught courses, the teaching methods, the workload, and other related data shall be acquired. For that, a national workshop was decided to be conducted in the faculty to explain and discuss the methodology and the technique of Accreditation Data preparation. As per KRG, Ministry of Higher education and scientific research's decision and due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Dentistry Faculty in Tishk international university started online education on Sunday, May 03, 2020, by using an online e-learning management system which is called Mercury. The platform provides all the necessary study material for the students with active interactions with the lectures as if they were studying inside the university campus. The platform contains both offline and live videos which are uploaded by the lectures on a daily basis depending on an announced schedule. By a decision made by the TIU top management, both Dentistry Department and Pharmacy Department started the procedure of international accreditation for their bachelor programs. An executive committee was formed to run the accreditation procedure and to provide the data required for preparing the self-evaluation report. This committee held the first regular meeting on May 21, 2020 at the University campus. The process road map was illustrated and members were assigned with tasks. On February 27, 2020, TIU- Faculty of Dentistry organized a seminar for the Dentistry Staff under the title of “Corona Virus Awareness”. Ms.Sara Bahram, a research assistant at the Dentistry Faculty presented the seminar, in which she discussed the history of the corona virus, the development of (COVID-19) and its risk and she explained the means of protection that all individuals including Dentist should follow.
