A national seminar under the title (Breast Cancer Awareness) was held in Tishk International University. Dr. Narmin Taha Mustafa, Specialist in general surgeon presented a seminar for dental students in Faculty of Dentistry, Tishk International University on Thursday, November 23, 2017. The aim of the seminar was to enhance awareness about cancer and specifically breast cancer, which is widespread in our region. Orientation program for new Dentistry undergraduate students

On 22nd of November we had orientation program for new Dentistry undergraduate students. Our Dean Dr. Duran Kala gave them welcome speech. Executive student manager of faculty Mr. Ercan Sezer gave information about policies of Dental Faculty and Student handbook was given to students, furthermore teaching assistant advisors were introduced to students. At the end of orientation program a faculty tour was given to new undergraduate students.

Scientific trip to CMC private hospital

On Monday 20th of November 2017 , Dentistry department arranged a scientific trip to CMC private hospital for a group of 48 students from second grade. At the hospital the group were welcomed by the staff working there. Information about the health services and how they deal with patients were given and the students visited all hospital departments including labs and x-ray departments.

On November 14th , Dentistry Faculty Tishk International University Dean of the faculty Dr.duran kala with the support of dean of students rewarded the participants of the orphanage charity by giving them certificates , among the participants there were staff and students of dentistry faculty The rewards were submitted by the dean dr.duran kala and executive advisor mr.ercan sezer to the participants furthermore Dr. Duran gave a sermon and explain the importance of the charity work. The meeting was attended by the Ms. Rojan Arif, Dr. Bushra Rashid and Dentistry students.

Fluoride Application at MamZawa Refugee Camp

Dental examination and fluoride application at Mam Zawa Refugee Camp On Wednesday, November 9th, 2017, Mam Zawa was visited for the second time by the Pedodontics Department of the faculty of Dentistry. The visit included Pedodontic department staff and 5th-year dental students. While at the camp, dental examination, as well as fluoride application, was performed on the children. Camp administration appreciated the work put forth by Tishk International University staff and students and those involved will receive certificates and awards for their hard work.

On November 1st from 9:30 am until 12:30 pm, the head of the Pedodontics department, Dr. Bushra as well as a group of dentists from Tishk International University in cooperation with TDH-Italy Mamzawa community center attended MamZawa Camp. The purpose of their visit was to assess the parents' knowledge of oral health in the camp through questionnaires and to prepare the families for future visits by dental students where their children's oral health will be examined. Meeting with Hawler Medical University

On October 11th, 2017, the admissions committee of Hawler Medical University and Tishk International University, met with Dr. Nzar Shabila, Vice President of Hawler Medical University and Dr. Dara Hama Rashid, dean of the faculty of dentistry at Hawler Medical University to discuss details pertaining to the joint masters program that is to be held between the two respective universities. Further meetings between the universities will be held in future to prepare academic requirements and criteria.

Third visit to the infirmary by 5th-grade students with their supervisor

On 2nd April 2017, a group of 5th-grade students from dentistry faculty organised their 3rd visit to the infirmary with their supervisor. They diagnosed their teeth and gave appointments for treatment, Although their number were about 85, students could talk and listen to them one by one. Students fed some of the elderly who disable and couldn't eat by themselves. Small gifts were distributed to them, some of the elderly said that we were waiting for you to visit us again, the students were deeply in thought about their expectation, next visits are planning to proceed.
