On February 4, 2026, a group of staff and fourth stage students from the Faculty of Dentistry at Tishk International University visited Sima Center for autistic children in Erbil, as part of the School Dental Care Project.

The project was under the supervision of Dr. Bushra Rasheed, Head of Pedodontics Department at Faculty of Dentistry. The students were under the supervision of Dr. Saz Sirwan who accompanied the students on the field. Three students from the 5th stage participated in carrying out this project.

The project aimed to conduct dental checkups for the school children and provision of dental homecare instructions. After the checkups the staff and students from Tishk University gave specific and detailed instructions for brushing their teeth through oral instructions and demonstration.

School dental screening aims to identify oral health concerns at an early stage, hence prompting preventive and therapeutic oral health care for the children. The project also provides a way for children to have regular access to preventative dental health and a link to additional treatment services. The autistic children who were (22) children were checked by the dental staff and students.

This project was first discussed before the day of commencement of the project on January 28, 2026, where the school management was contacted by TIU. This was followed by several meetings to arrange all the needs of the project.

The Faculty of Dentistry at Tishk International University is one of the most fundamental and popular dental schools in the city of Erbil, Iraq. Our faculty provides a very affluent health care system with its experienced faculty members and staff.
